1/8/2014 - Gibson Selected as Tipp City Council President: Joe Gibson was selected by the members of Tipp City Council to be their President for the 2015-2017 term. Gibson, re-elected to another 4-year term this past November, was sworn-in as Council Member at the Council's organizational meeting whcih took place on Monday, January 6th. "Words can not express how honored I feel having been selected by Council Members to be President. I hope to serve them and the Citizens of Tipp City well" Gibson said. Gibson is also a Member of the Miami Council, and is an ex-officio member representing the City of Tipp City the Tipp-Monroe Cable Acess Commission. 11/07/2013 - Gibson re-elected City Council: Joe Gibson was re-elected to City Council in his home town of Tipp City, Ohio. First elected in 2009, Gibson was chosen among 6 candidates running for 4 spots. "I am honored and humbled that the people of Tipp City have decided that I deserve another term on council" Gibson said. Gibson, an active leader in the community had previoulsy served on the Planning Board, and the Cable Access Commission. He is s proud sponsor of the Mum Festival, and the What a Girl Wants Events for You, along with the Aming for a Cure and Guns & Ribbons events for cancer awareness. 5/30/2011 - Gibson appointed Chairman of Workers Comp Committee: The Dayton Bar Association Board of Directors has appointed Joe Gibson as Chairman of the DBA's Workers' compensation/Social Security Committee for an unprecedented 6th year-long term. The Committee meets monthly and continues to offer information and continuing legal education credits as approved and sanctioned by the Ohio Supreme Court. Each month features a guest speaker in the Workers' Comp and/or Social Security fields. Gibson stands on the verge of being one of the longest-serving committee Chairs in DBA history. Gibson also serves on the DBA Ethics Committee. 9/01/2010 - Gibson Law Offices Opens Fairborn Location: Gibson Law Offices is pleased to announce the establishment of their new location in Fairborn, Ohio, JUST 2 DOORS DOWN FROM THE INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION HEARING LOCATION. on Dayton-Yellow-Springs Road. This new office will allow us to serve our clients practically "right next door" to the hearing place. Located at 1220 East Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, it is only minutes from I-675 (at Exit 20), it is in the Fairborn Commerce Center building where BWC hearings take place almost ever yweek day. Now, if you hve a hearing at the I.C.'s "Dayton" Service Office (located in Fairborn!) you can see your attorney in confidence in the comfort of a private office suite just steps from the hearing place. This takes the place of the Centerville office which has been closed in favor of this more convenient location. 3/15/10 Hearing Place Moving: The Ohio Industrial Commission announced that the Dayton Service Office, located off of Poe Avenue in Vandalia, will move to a new location in Fairborn, near I-675. The move was touted as a way to cut costs and improve efficiency. The move will take place on Thursday March 18th and Friday, March 19th. The hearings will begin to take place on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. If you have a hearing coming up, be sure and contact this office with any questions. Gibson Law Offices will send reminders out to clients with hearings scheduled over the next few months. Directions to the new hearing location are printed on the reverse of each hearing notice mailed. 11/5/09 Gibson elected to City Council: Joe Gibson was elected to City Council of his home town Tipp City, Ohio. He earned the highest number of votes of all the candidates running in 2009, and his vote total exceeds any of the highest vote-getters in prior elections going back to before 2000. He is set to be sworn-in at the City Council’s first meeting of the year on January 4, 2010. 6/1/09 Ohio Supreme Court Clarifies Effective Date of Change in Law: In a recent decision by the Ohio Supreme Court, the effective date for certain changes in the law was settled once and for all. If you have an injury that took place prior to August 25, 2006, one set of laws applies, while a different set applies for injuries on or after this date. Please see your attorney for a full explanation of this principle. This is why a person involved with an Ohio Workers’ Comp claim (employer or worker) should have counsel. The law is so complicated, and it changes often enough that you should have the advice of an attorney on such matters. 12/30/08 Gibson Appointed to Planning Board: Attorney Joe Gibson was appointed to the Tipp City Planning Board for the term expiring January 1, 2010. The Planning Board advised City Council on all matters involving land use, city planning, as well as permits and applications. 6/10/08 Gibson Appointed to Third Term as Chairman: Attorney Joe Gibson was appointed Chairman of the Dayton Bar Association Workers’ Comp/Social Security Committee for an unprecedented third term, to start on the fall of 2008. First appointed Chairman for the 2006-2007 term, he was recognized in 2007 for his outstanding work as Committee Chair by the Dayton Bar Association. He was re-appointed for the 2007-2008 term, and has now been appointed for a third term. No workers’ comp attorney has ever served 3 terms in a row on this Committee. This demonstrates Joe’s commitment to the vision, mission and goals of the DBA’s committees. 5/1/07 Gibson recognized by Dayton Bar Association: The Dayton Bar Association recognized Attorney Joe Gibson, for his work as Chairman of the DBA’s Workers’ Compensation/Social Security Committee for the 2006-2007 term. The DBA presented Gibson with the award of recognition for outstanding work as committee chair in its annual summer meeting and gala. 1/4/2007 Gibson Appointed to Tipp-Monroe Cable Access Commission: The City Council for the City of Tipp City voted unanimously to appoint Attorney Joe Gibson to the Tipp-Monroe Cable Access Commission. This board oversees the daily operations of the public access television station for Tipp City and Monroe Township. They are responsible for program review and approval, budget preparation and implementation, and setting programming policy. 6/15/06 Gibson Appointed DBA Workers’ Comp Committee Chairman: Attorney Joe Gibson was appointed by the Dayton Bar Association to be Chairman of its Workers’ Compensation/Social Security Committee. Gibson, with a practice in Vandalia, has been in workers’ compensation for over 20 years. He is the former Attorney for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, working in the Dayton Service Office.
